by Tanya J. Miller

This book blast will run February 29, 2016

About the book

FRONT MindMatters (1)

Do you ever get lost in the maze of your mind? When your thoughts start spiraling in a continuous loop—positive or negative—it can seem impossible to consider a different idea or even catch your breath. If the way you think greatly influences the way you live, then it’s important to know how to manage your thoughts and channel their power to improve your life, rather than hinder it.

Mind Matters explores practical ways you can bring balance to your thought life, from replacing anxious thoughts with hopeful ones to curbing unnecessary thinking altogether. It also points out traps that keep you stuck, like “clearing your mind” by airing your thoughts to anyone that will listen via Facebook or the occasional tantrum and outburst.

As you learn the art of controlling your thoughts, you will be able to focus on what you can do in the present to experience the life you want in the future. Whether you struggle with anxious thoughts or just need a few tips to better manage your mind, this easy-to-read guide provides you with simple instructions you can immediately put into practice.

NOBODY’S PRINCESS & Mega Giveaway with Sarah Hegger

Where does Carrie Underwood fit into all this?

Writers often get asked about the source of their inspiration. For me, it changes from book to book. It can really be anything—a snatch of real life that I catch, a scene in a movie or on TV, and sometimes a song.

You may well ask where Carrie Underwood fits in, because I’m not a country music fan. However, the idea for Nobody’s Princess popped into my head when I caught the video for Carrie’s song, “Before he Cheats.” The chorus goes like this:

And he don’t know…

That I dug my key into the side

Of his pretty little suped up 4 wheel drive,

Carved my name into his leather seats…

I took a Louisville slugger to both headlights,

Slashed a hole in all 4 tires…

Maybe next time he’ll think before he cheats.**

You might be thinking reading those lyrics that the story is one of reunited exes, and I did go that way at first. But I kept listening to the lyrics and wondered what would make a woman so mad that she would do that to someone’s car. Yes, he cheated, and that’s bad enough, but most of us would not go that far (however much we wanted to). Tiffany needed her own internal demon that her cheating ex prodded into life. Also, I didn’t like the idea of her getting back together with her cheating husband, so I made the love interest Thomas Hunter, and gave a need to get to her ex as badly as Tiffany did. Putting those two together spelled – ROAD TRIP!

My story begins seven years after the car trashing. Once all the dust has settled, and Tiffany has had time to reflect on what happened all those years ago. Except Tiffany hasn’t been doing much reflecting, she’s more been hiding than anything else. So much so, that she has never dealt with her past in the legal sense as well as emotional, and now it’s all come back to haunt her and threaten her future.

Tiffany needs to get ‘real’, and Thomas Hunter, the book’s hero, is all about real. To spice it up a bit, I changed the car from a modern 4×4 to a vintage Lamborghini Miura, and added a seriously angry teen to the mix.

As Tiffany’s journey in the book is about finding herself, she also needed to see her part in her disastrous first marriage. I’m not saying any woman causes her husband to cheat, far from it. So far from it, in fact, I didn’t want her ex-husband as the hero, but her entire marriage was a mess. Her actions with his car that day had a lot to do with a lifetime of penned up hurt and frustration. Tiffany married the wrong man for all the wrong reasons and ended up in a terrible marriage.

And when Nobody’s Princess starts, she’s in danger of doing the same thing all over again…

Nobody’s Princess Book Blurb:

Sarah Hegger is back with another delightful Willow Park Romance, but this time the road to love might be a little bumpy…

Tiffany Desjardins has a plan. Well, she had a plan, until her past and all its complications came back to haunt her. Her not-quite-ex-husband, Luke, is missing, and suddenly everyone needs to find him–including Tiffany, if she wants to marry the true man of her dreams. Then there’s Thomas Hunter, Luke’s brawny friend, who won’t take “no road trip” for an answer–and who won’t stop showing up in her daydreams…

Thomas couldn’t care less about Luke’s personal life, but he needs to find him if he’s going to make his fledgling minerals and metals company a reality. And if that means following Tiffany, who’s taken off in Luke’s rare Lamborghini Miura, he’s more than willing–especially if there might be a chance to negotiate some of Tiffany’s lovely curves. As Tiffany and Thomas speed along without a map, the only destination that seems certain is being together…

Sarah Hegger’s voice is rich and witty and in a word, addictive.”–Terri Osburn, author of the bestselling Anchor Island series

Born British and raised in South Africa, Sarah Hegger suffers from an incurable case of wanderlust. Her match? A hot Canadian engineer, whose marriage proposal she accepted six short weeks after they first met. Together they’ve made homes in seven different cities across three different continents (and back again once or twice). If only it made her multilingual, but the best she can manage is idiosyncratic English, fluent Afrikaans, conversant Russian, pigeon Portuguese, even worse Zulu and enough French to get herself into trouble.

Mimicking her globe trotting adventures, Sarah’s career path began as a gainfully employed actress, drifted into public relations, settled a moment in advertising, and eventually took root in the fertile soil of her first love, writing. She also moonlights as a wife and mother.

She currently lives in Littleton, Colorado, with her teenage daughters, two Golden Retrievers and aforementioned husband. Part footloose buccaneer, part quixotic observer of life, Sarah’s restless heart is most content when reading or writing books.

She loves to hear from readers and you can find her at any of the places below.

TWO TO WRANGLE & giveaway with Victoria Vane

“I’m not going to be a silent partner, Ty.”

“Didn’t expect you to be.”

“If you want me you’re going to have to give me equal say.”

“How can I do that when I’m talking bulls and you’re going off about Flamenco dancers?”

“You just illustrated my entire point!” she said. “If we’re going to work together you have to let me be a part of this. Partnerships require common goals and like minds. How can this work when we have none of that?”

Ty perched on the desk with a frown. “One little stumble and you’re already getting cold feet? We can work through this if we try, Monica. And I’m willing to compromise—to a point. You just gotta understand that this whole thing was my vision. My idea. My dream. I can’t let you or anyone else take that away.”

“I’m not trying to take it away from you. I just want it to succeed. We’re talking about a huge investment. Look, Ty, I came in here with an open mind, but I can’t take the back seat and neither can you. Do you see now how incompatible we are? And why I’ve said we could never work.”

“I thought you had more grit than that.”

“That’s not it! I wanted this to work. I really did, but we just don’t have enough common ground. I admit the chemistry between us is incredible, but we burn too hot.”

“You’re right about that part,” he broke into a dark chuckle. “We’ve been playing with gun powder from the get go. But there’s something you need to understand about gunpowder, Monica. Although it’s highly combustible, it’s also what makes fireworks. So only two things can happen here—we’re either gonna blow like a stick of dynamite or we’re gonna make some major fucking pyrotechnics…Don’t know ‘bout you, but I’m banking on the fireworks.”

A COUNTRY BOY…Maybe having a hot and heavy affair with the boss’s daughter wasn’t the smartest move. But Ty Morgan didn’t regret a moment with city girl Monica Brandt…until she left Las Vegas to return to her life in New York.  When devastating news sends her running back, Ty can’t help but open his arms.  His heart, however, is another matter.

AND A CITY GIRL…Now that Ty has what he’s always wanted—controlling interest in Hotel Rodeo—Monica is certain their time together is at an end—until Ty asks her to come on board as a partner.  Maybe it’s just her money he needs, but the chance to stick close to the sexy wrangler sure could make work a whole lot more interesting.

GET READY TO TANGO.. Their partnership doesn’t come without a heap of problems. The two can’t agree on anything—except their iron-hot attraction.  As the hotel’s grand opening approaches, the truth is all too clear: Ty and Monica must find a way to mix business with pleasure if they have any shot at dancing off into the sunset together…

LOVING LIES & giveaway with Tina Donahue

You’ve come a long way, baby…

Welcome to 1488 Spain when warriors were super macho and women were glad of it. Yeah, right. That might work for some delicate Spanish flowers, but not any heroine I’d cheer for.

One thing I love about historical romances is changing character expectations on gender. You know, women were born to yield by a decree of nature, God, and man. Right. Watching a heroine prove she has a mind of her own and an inner fire no one will quench is sexy, fun, and oh-so romantic especially when the hero finally gets it. Making him and his lady equal partners who face constant danger from outside forces and their own feelings is magic. It’s how love begins and feels real on the page.

Loving Lies isn’t the first erotic historical I’ve written, but it was one of the hardest. Maintaining accuracy with details was a major reason. For example, what the characters wear. Online, I researched Spanish clothing in 1488 and found zip, nada, nothing. There was tons of info on English clothing but nothing on Spain. Eventually, I pulled up paintings from that period and described the garments from them.

Another difficulty was dialogue. During the late fifteenth century, folks didn’t use contractions. At all. I challenge anyone to write dialogue without contractions and try to make it sound natural. It was murder.

Still, I thoroughly enjoyed Isabella and Fernando’s tale. They’ll be in my heart forever. Unexpected lovers who were simply meant to be despite countless obstacles they faced from the beginning.

To illustrate: In protecting her sister Sancha, Isabella lands on the auction block in Granada. Next stop, being a concubine in the Sultan’s harem. Enter Fernando—a warrior-knight and Sancha’s betrothed. At this point, it would seem Isabella is home free. No way. Since Fernando and Sancha’s betrothal was arranged when they were children, he doesn’t remember her at all and believes Isabella’s his betrothed. She could tell him how wrong he is; however, Sancha doesn’t want to marry anyone, especially a stranger she’s determined to loathe.

Isabella finds Fernando just about perfect. Sexy as sin and commanding as all get out…in a playful way. Early in the plot, Isabella’s reluctant to eat an orange Fernando gives her. Although he claims to be Fernando de Zayas, what if he’s lying? What if her greedy uncle sent him to do her in? Here’s a brief excerpt:

He took the fruit. “If I release you, will you promise not to flee?”

“Will you promise not to pursue me if I do?”

His smile was slow and filled with raw male lust. “I would run you down to the earth in a moment and take my pleasure with you.”

Keeping her head and virtue on their journey to her father’s castle is no small feat, especially with Fernando wooing her, while she bewitches him.

In this tale, both lovers come a long way, eventually ending in each other’s arms where they definitely belong.

Deception knows no limits. Passion knows no bounds.

When she’s kidnapped, Senorita Isabella knows the men have been sent by her uncle in a murderous attempt to control her family’s fortune. But when she is rescued by a dashing and mysterious warrior, Isabella can’t imagine why a stranger would risk his life for her—until she discovers her rescuer believes she’s someone else….

Fernando de Zayas loves nothing more than the cry of battle. Defying death is his way of life. But when he discovers his betrothed has been kidnapped, he rushes to her aid—never suspecting that spirited beauty would soothe his warrior heart…

With her uncle’s minions close on their heels, Isabella finds herself drawing closer to Fernando. But as the desire between them builds, her secret could keep them apart forever…

Vanayssa Somers’ THE BOY SCOUT Releases today

A massive shipping container stands open and waiting on the dock of a huge port city, in almost any country. A truck drives up and a load of human beings, in this case, youngsters, are off loaded and packed inside the crate. A crane lifts the container. It takes its place among dozens of other gigantic shipping containers, all locked together on board a freighter.

A week or two later, the container is lifted once more and deposited on another dock, thousands of miles from home. At some point, the kidnappers unlock the crate and those souls who have survived the ocean journey are gathered up and taken somewhere to be sold. Behind them, their country; their birthrights; their families; their rights to education, freedom of speech, equality, all the things we take for granted.

Shocking enough when it takes place on the other side of the world.

More so, when it takes place in America, and the youngsters being kidnapped are American children.

Melchior, King of Fairies, and Theresa, a young American woman are passionately in love, soon to be wed. But a new purpose takes hold of these two magical Wizards as they discover the hazards young people face, unknowingly, every time they step outside their home.

In any country on earth.

Even ours.

When it came down to it, Callahan was common muck. When you stripped all this mind-blowing stuff aside.

He was just another killer. Just another rapist.

There was a cell waiting with Callahan’s name on it. Possibly, it would have to be a very special cell. Perhaps, lead-lined. Unless, at last, the finality of true death awaited him. At the hands of a jury.

And where, exactly, would they find a jury of Callahan’s peers?  The idea was laughable.

But shape-shifting and time travel were not necessary parts of jury selection. The presence of a healthy conscience and normal intelligence were the things that mattered there.

And Kincaid was going to put him there. In the hands of a jury. Oh yes. He teetered back on his heels, his hands quiet behind his back, head lifted as he gazed around one last time. Lips compressed, eyes wide.

Next step. Get out there and catch this son of a bitch. Put him away for life, or, if he had his way, put him into the Chair.

But first, they had to find the bodies.

The little bodies.

The Magic Will Find You!            visit Vanayssa Somers

My desire to write was driven by the transformative power of Story. As a child, I loved books about characters who did the right thing and overcame great odds. I was fired with the hunger to experience transformation in my own life and inspire others.

Born in a Yukon winter, I moved to beautiful British Columbia as a toddler and grew up in the deep forests of Vancouver Island. Over the years I trained as a Registered Nurse, earned a B.A. in Sociology from University of Victoria, worked as a Reiki Master, Psychic and NLP counselor. I was blessed to mother a beautiful daughter who, unfortunately, passed away in her twenties. Through that loss I discovered a gold mine of new depth in myself and in life itself, as she returned to visit me and open a new awareness of life after death. The greatest gift of all is life itself.

Over the years I have sought to help and inspire others through my work as a nurse, as the owner/operator of a seaside spa in the U.K., as counselor and psychic.  A graduate of The Monroe Institute and a follower of Bruce Moen’s books and website, I work in soul retrieval and connection with my family in the Afterlife. I believe romantic love to be one of life’s highest experiences. Writing romance is my joy.

When Gaby Conte’s Italian husband, Danieli, abandons her for a young Peruvian waitress at a restaurant they co-own in San Francisco, Gaby seeks refuge in Rome with her best friend Maria. There, she swears off romance for a long while and Italian men forever. That’s until she meets Silvio, who belongs to an old, aristocratic Roman family and lives in a palace alongside the best private art collection in Rome. Silvio, who is the cousin of Maria’s husband, is going through his own divorce. He’s gorgeous, of course, which Gaby doesn’t tell him. And arrogant and condescending, which she does. The last thing Gaby needs is more Italian trouble, but the attraction is instant and powerful, and against the backdrop of one of the world’s most romantic cities, both try—and fail—to resist the chemistry between them. But both Gaby and Silvio have made a rule never to make the mistake of trusting in love again. Will they realize some rules are made just to be broken.

Amazon  also get Mandi’s The Blasphemy Box

Delfina, still sniffling, ventured off, but Silvio stayed standing next to Gaby. When she looked up at him, he leaned toward her, his masculine scent racing straight to her limbic brain. “I told Delfina that she should listen to your fashion advice.” He was so close Gaby could feel his breath feathering her neck and back. “Since you always look so good, that is.”
Gaby felt dizzy and she bit her lip. Her eyes closed, then opened and she turned to him. Their faces were only inches apart, those firm juicy lips of his so close, so tempting she just wanted to smash them against hers and sing the Hallelujah Chorus. Instead, she got up on tiptoe, cupped his ear sexily with her hand, and whispered, “So glad you noticed.”
Silvio’s head jerked up and back and, for a second, emotion fired his eyes, making them burn as fiercely as the desire that always seemed to flare unchecked between them. He swallowed hard, muttered a curse, and tugged at Gaby’s arm. “You’re all I notice, lately.” Then he strode back to his chair.
Gaby’s stupid heart skipped a beat and something hot and achy swelled inside her. She knew her cheeks were redder than roses right about now, and lowered herself carefully onto one of the store’s black sofas like a maiden aunt in need of her walker. She had to take a breath. Several breaths. This man did terrible things to her equilibrium. The way he made her feel alive, hungry, burning for his touch, terrified her. If she were in a Victorian novel, someone would be bringing her elderberry wine at this point, or fanning her with an opera program. But as it was, she had nothing except a bride who couldn’t stop crying, a saleswoman who couldn’t stop lying about how any dress in the store Delfina chose would put Amal Clooney’s to shame, and a man whose heated gaze and words raised her temperature so high she might just spontaneously combust and bury them all under a heap of Duchess satin.

Mandi Benet grew up in England and published her first piece of fiction when she was twelve. She’s been scribbling away ever since as an award-winning journalist— covering everything from the Democratic Convention to the Oscars for major American national newspapers and magazines — and as an author, writing women’s fiction and contemporary romance with rich, original characters. Mandi is a member of RWA National and the San Francisco branch of RWA.

I stumbled into writing. Yeah, that’s pretty much it. I never pictured myself as a writer but about five years ago, craving some kind of excitement and adventure in my life, I jotted a few notes down for a book idea and never looked back. Funny part is, the notes I wrote I never incorporated into a book, instead I took on subjects as wolf-shifters and angels and created their worlds and I have loved every minute of it. So, on that note, let me share with you my first book, Nightfall

Tamara’s spicy scent thrills, seduces and weakens him like no other. She is his and he wants her. Unfortunately, she is done with men. Tamara’s been burned too many times in the past and she’s not looking for a relationship…..ever. But when she finds a stray dog on her doorstep she decides she wants a relationship with a male, after all- that of pet and pet owner.
Josh is not a dog and he has no interest in staying her pet. He has one burning desire- Tamara- in his bed, nightly and permanently. He will stop at nothing to convince Tamara they are better together and that he needs her, forever.
Their paths are intertwined and their future is inevitable but will Tamara allow Josh to love, cherish and protect her? Or will she say good-bye to the amazing, dedicated man whose loyalty and sweet promises could shatter her walls completely and consume her with desire?

Stacy Finz & The Police Beat with giveaway

The Police Beat

One of my first jobs as a newspaper reporter was working in the cop shop, the press room in the San Diego Police Department. It was the night shift and the place was fairly empty. Kind of creepy. I’d call the watch commander from my desk at the same time every night to get an update.

Anything going on?” I’d ask.

Nope. All quiet.”

I was pretty new at the job so I went along with whatever the watch commander said. But after several nights of him saying that the city was quiet as a titmouse my bull meter went off. I called him back.

You mean to tell me there’s no crime in the second largest city in California? That there hasn’t been for days? Not even a burglary or car theft? If not, then your department is grossly overstaffed. Maybe I should write a story about that.”

He laughed. “I was wondering when you’d finally catch on, come down and introduce yourself.”

Of course my perv alarm went off but he actually turned out to be a nice guy. The next night I brought donuts (ok, it’s kind of cliché but who doesn’t like donuts?). And we started a nice tradition: I brought him food and he gave me stories.

For much of my career as a reporter I covered the crime beat and became pretty familiar with police culture. That’s why creating Sloane McBride, the heroine in my new book, Borrowing Trouble (number six in the Nugget Romance series), came so easy to me. She’s a former LAPD detective in one of the most prestigious units on the force. But when she blows the whistle on a group of corrupt cops, life in the department becomes untenable. And she starts second guessing herself and her career choice.

She’s hoping to win back her confidence working as an officer in the small town of Nugget, California. But her first assignment requires guarding a bear. Not exactly her idea of “To Protect and Serve.”

I like the way she grows throughout the story, how her ideas on policing are molded by the needs of the community, and how appreciated she comes to feel by the residents. And I especially like that I got to use my background in police reporting to write a romance story.

In the beautiful mountain town of Nugget, California, staying out of the limelight is easy, but staying out of love is a bit more challenging…

Back in Los Angeles, Sloane McBride was a great police detective, but after she uncovered corruption on her own squad, the job became nearly impossible. In the bucolic hills of Nugget, she can start to imagine a life after all that, where she keeps her head down, does her work, and doesn’t bother anyone. But her delicious next door neighbor isn’t going to make it easy to keep to herself…

Brady Benson’s wildest dreams came true in LA—but they were paired with a living nightmare. As executive chef of a searing-hot restaurant, he was lauded, adored… and then found himself caught in the sights of a lovelorn stalker. Now, laying low in Nugget, he finds his own heart ensnared by the beautiful new cop with her own reasons to start over.

Neither Sloane nor Brady came to town looking for love, but it seems to have found them. Trouble is, so have their pasts. And they’ll have to stop hiding from both if they hope to come out the other side together…
