Brooke Sanders just wants to get away from her life for a while. A remote cabin in Montana fits the bill. She doesn’t expect to encounter a mysterious stranger with unusual blue eyes, or events that cannot be explained…
Colin Fielding is on a mission – scout a planet and return home to Endhivar. Simple really. What he doesn’t anticipate is that fate has a pretty twisted sense of humor. Suddenly, this human calls to him, every part of him, like the call of a true mate, and he can’t deny the connection as he gets closer to her.
Little do they know, someone is out to do them harm, as well as the world Brooke holds so dear. Can they stop what’s coming before it’s too late? Or will the universe lose a perfect gem?
Brooke laughed nervously and brushed at her leggings, now soaked at the knees. “I didn’t expect to see anyone else out here. No one believed me. But, I know what I saw. I came to see about the light.” Aware she was babbling and probably sounded like a loon, she clamped her mouth shut, crossing her arms over her chest.
She frowned and pointed at the green beam ahead, beyond the trees.
“You saw nothing.”
Her eyes narrowed as she became aware of a strange sensation across her forehead. “What do you mean? It’s right there! Just look.”
He stepped closer to her, enough so she could see his upper body and face. He was tall, his physique muscular, shoulders wide like a football player. His hair was cropped short at his skull and dark brown. His eyes were so dark, practically black as he stared down at her. And there was a bluish tint to his skin. Her gaze widened as it traveled down.
He was naked. Holy crap, he was really naked. Her breath caught at that discovery and her heart began to race wildly.
“You saw nothing,” he repeated, lifting her chin with one finger as he looked into her eyes.
She shivered, and then blinked. His eyes were electric blue now. Jesus, maybe she was losing her mind. People’s eyes didn’t shift color like that. “What are you trying to do? Hypnotize me?” She jerked her head away from his touch, stepping back. “How did you get all the way out here?” She drew a breath, and tried hard to look away from the thick evidence of his interest below his waist. Though how anyone could respond like that in this weather was beyond her, but then, what did she know about men? She forced herself to look at his face instead of his appealing body. “And why are you naked? It’s freezing out here.”
He looked down at himself oddly as if he just now realized it. When he looked at her again, she gasped, staggering back. He reached to catch her arm before she fell again.
Grateful for the save, but still disconcerted, her gaze returned to him. He wore a black sweater with jeans and a leather jacket. He had hiking boots on as well. “How did you—“
“How did I what?” He dropped his hand.
She swallowed hard at his massive presence, and then frowned up at him.
