Maggie’s on the run, leaving behind a marriage gone badly, a dangerous ex-husband, and one of the most crime infested neighborhoods in Maine. She isn’t looking to replace any of it, until she runs into Matt Dillon. A prime example of an alpha male, he’s big and tough with an attitude to match. The only problem is he’s determined to ignore the instant attraction between them.
Matt’s running away, too. He’s hoping a new beginning in a small town will help him get on with his life without the woman he loves. What he hadn’t counted on was meeting someone like Maggie Myers. He knows as soon as he runs into the curvaceous redhead that she’s nothing but trouble, and she proves it time and time again. Trying to ignore her is impossible, and before long passion explodes between them, sealing their fate.

Maggie has finally decided to leave the city and go back home to the country. She only has a few more days in this rundown old apartment in the bad part of town. When Matt, a uniformed police officer, shows up at her door, her dog at his heels (literally!) she wonders just how much worse it can get (while secretly admiring the cop!). As tends to happen things can actually get worse—her ex has escaped from jail and she’s started getting heavy breather phone calls. Call it fate or being in the right place at the right time but Matt is able to rescue Maggie from her ex who’s decided if he can’t have her no one can. Although she still thinks about him she has more important things to do like move back home.
As it turns out Matt is also moving—to be the sherriff in her home town! They meet again with many sparks and passion ignites. They both face challenges from the past that neither is sure they can get over. Set against a backdrop of both urban and rural Northeast the story has humor, caring, suspense and lots of very spicy bedroom action.
Matt and Maggie have serious chemistry. You feel it as the author describes the scenes and their feelings even outside the actual action. There is a hint of danger running through that injects just enough suspense to keep you reading and invested in what’s going to happen next. The secondary characters are interesting and well developed and help to propel the story to its conclusion. Any one of them would make an interesting side story themselves. I absolutely loved how the author could throw in so many scenes that were rife with sexual tension until even you, the reader, says enough already—they just have to get together!
Wicked Desire is a thoroughly enjoyable story that, although is of the erotic type, really takes a lot of time to develop the plot and the characters so the book is not just one sex scene after another. Outstanding and highly recommended read!
