Twice as Hot by Gena Showalter returns the reader to the alternate earth where superheroes are real, previously introduced in Playing with Fire.

Belle Jamison used to be a "normal" human, just like everyone else, until the day someone slipped an unusual mickey into her drink. She's learned to cope, she thought, with her new superpowers. She's relied on the help of her friends and, most especially, the love of her life, Rome. Things are settling down, she's planning her wedding, and then everything goes spinning off course. Rome disappears while on a mission. When he's recovered, Belle is ecstatic until she realizes that he remembers everything in his life, except for her. To make thing worse, Rome's ex-wife is back with a vengeance, determined to win him back while Belle is out of the picture. Top that off with a depressed partner and an oddly dreamy best friend, and things are starting to appear pretty bleak. What's a girl to do when her Prince Charming forgets her existence, a new man woos her, and a supervillain will stop at nothing to get her? Save the world, of course!

Twice as Hot was a fantastic, sizzling, laugh out loud, thrill ride. I loved every minute of it. Belle is irrepressible and impossible to resist. Life might knock her down, but she gets up and keeps going, and she's funny as hell while doing it. Rome is appealing, despite his appalling memory loss. Alpha and sexy to his bones. Belle's band of sidekicks charm as well, from her high maintenance best friend, to her smutty, yet delightful, partner. I highly recommend this book to all readers of paranormal romance or urban fantasy, even readers of chick lit will get a kick out of this one. This is undoubtedly one of my favorite books of 2010! Although this is part of a series, this book can be read without reading the earlier story (I recommend that one too though).
