This appears to be the last in a long grouping of stories centered on friends & customers of a BDSM club. Although this one stands alone, we meet characters who obviously appeared in other stories along the way. Perhaps this one would have meant more to me if I had read the others first, but since I had not read them, I have to say that this one both puzzled & disappointed me.
Stan had a thing about BDSM & degrading or hitting women, even if they ask for it. He’s extremely uncomfortable with the whole concept. He even divorced his wife over her penchant for the lifestyle. Now he’s here in a new town, where he meets a bunch of people that he genuinely likes, despite their kink.
He also meets Crystal, who has more than a few hangups, but who wants to serve him, so he takes her on.
The puzzling part was why after ten or more years with Crystal, the one that he professes to love, Stan would just up & leave her to go back to the woman he divorced. That just didn’t seem to ring true with me. I was disappointed that if Stan had to see his ex again, why didn’t he just call her or have coffee & tell her he was wrong about her BDSM lifestyle & apologize, then get back to the woman he loves.
I was also puzzled about Crystal’s physical problems. Why did it take her so long to get that taken care of?
And having been in several businesses, I think it was unrealistic that nothing bad ever happened, & that no business related problems ever arose. Any business is fraught with problems, & the problem solving aspect of business always takes over the actual practice of the business.
If you buy this one, make sure & get the others leading up to it.
